The Mall at Turtle Creek

Welcome to the Arkansas Adoption Coalition Blog for Area VIII!

The Adoption Coalition Area VIII Heart Gallery is currently on display at The Mall at Turtle Creek.  Check out the calendar for directions and more information.  The Heart Gallery is a moving portrayal of children available for adoption and waiting in the fostercare system.  There are Heart Galleries in every state and the first founded by Diane Granito in New Mexico.  There are now numerous Heart Galleries across Arkansas.  Our Arkansas Area VIII Heart Gallery was the second and opened Mother's Day 2007.  Our Heart Gallery has been traveling ever since!  We travel from venue to venue, usually churches, a month at a time.  I added 9 new children to the Heart Gallery and website last weekend.  They are:  David, Tony, Jackson, Rusty, Carl, Breanna & Cherokee, Shawn and Laura.  Check them out, they were a blast to photograph!

The Adoption Coalition is sponsoring an Adoption Blitz on March 1st 10-11:30 at The Children's Homes in Paragould.  Our calendar has directions.  An Adoption Blitz is a time efficient way for adoptive families to: fill out  and notorize all paperwork, get fingerprinted, have questions answered by DCFS staff and get credit for attending the required inquiry meeting!  Hopefully, the ease of completing all these requirements in one morning will encourage people to take the first step of becoming a foster or adoptive family.

There are no unwanted children, only unfound families.

My husband and I were walking through the Turtle Creek mall and was drawn to the photos of the children waiting to be adopted.
We have considered adopting a child, but somehow considered an infant. The pictures of those children made me realize that all children deserve love, and we are seriously considering becoming foster parents to see if we can make a difference in hurting childrens lives.
Thank you for caring enough about these children that you dedicated your time to gain more awareness of homes needed for children.
