Greetings Everyone!

This notice is being sent to all of you who are helping us "speak up" for the children in foster care...the children who are waiting for a forever family of their own. We have the following announcements/meeting reminders. Please participate when possible.         God Bless! Sharon, Sylvia and the Coalition Chairs

• Diana Davis at KAIT-8 will air a two-part report about the state adoption process Monday the 25th at 6 and 10P.M. Be sure and watch!
• Our newly designed website is up with a new look and greater capabilities. DCFS staff and attorneys for foster children can search for adoptive families on the site. Please register to be added to that database if you are an "open" for adoption home. We have new children photographed and a new "blog". www.adoptARKids.org
• The Heart Gallery will remain at the Turtle Creek Mall until Tuesday the 26th when it will move to a series of showings at Paragould churches.
• Mark your calendar for our regular noon Adoption Coalition meetings for April 16, August 13, and November 12. Plans are underway for special events in November--Adoption Awareness Month.
• We are happy to report great progress in the area of systemic problems as a result of state DCFS Director, Pat Page's appointment of Mickey Wilson. Mickey, formerly Foster Care Supervisor, has integrated and will supervise both the foster and adoption units. This has already improved adoption services and will provide greater accountability in Area VIII.
• An Adoption Coalition Support/Legal Group meeting will be held Monday, February 25 from 6:00 to 7:00 P.M. at Forest Home Church, 1922 Race Street, Jonesboro (enter fellowship hall entry on the east side in back). This Support Group Meeting is being held in hopes of providing you with useful adoption information. The Guest Speaker will be Mandy Smith, who works with many of the children that are in the foster care system. She and her husband are also foster parents. Attorney at Law, Jennifer Woodruff, will also be in attendance to answer general legal questions. (Remember to set your TV to record the 6 o'clock news)
• Congratulations CASA on being selected as KAIT8's feature charity for 2008! This will bring greater visibility to this unique, valuable organization and to the foster children that it serves. A great choice!
